The Supreme Court of Wisconsin has overturned the Appeals Court decision, ruling that Tootsie the Goldfish is, in fact, a pet under Wisconsin Statute #123 because a fish meets the definition of "pet".
Unfortunately, Tootsie died just as the Supreme Court made its decision. The average lifespan of a goldfish is a year and a half - the same as the amount of time it takes for a case to get through the court system.
Mike Johnson is upset about the decision, and about the death of his beloved pet. Although Ms. Miller has offered not to evict him after all as long as he doesn't get a new goldfish, he decides to move to a more pet-friendly apartment once his lease is up.
