The Supreme Court of Wisconsin has overturned the Appeals Court ruling, deciding that Siggy the Venus flytrap is not a pet under Wisconsin Statute #123 because (1) a plant is not a pet and (2) the law is intended to apply to pets that could cause property damage or health and safety concerns.

It took a year and a half for Mike Johnson's case to make its way through the court system. Although he is pleased with the outcome, it is a bittersweet victory.
