The Supreme Court of Wisconsin has voted to uphold the Appeals Court decision, ruling that Tootsie the Goldfish is, in fact, a pet under Wisconsin Statute #123 because a fish meets the definition of "pet".

Unfortunately, Tootsie died just as the Supreme Court made its decision. The average lifespan of a goldfish is a year and a half - the same as the amount of time it takes for a case to get through the court system.

Carrie Smith is upset about the decision, and about the death of her beloved pet. Although Mr. Myers has offered not to evict her after all, as long as she doesn't get a new goldfish, she decides to move to a more pet-friendly apartment once her lease is up.
